Life in Canada(Vancouver)

 School's projects....

Although I have some break from school, I still have to work on some of the assigned projects.....Now, it's about FTT(Fundamentals of Travel & Tourism) not WD(World Destinations which I finished with 92% of final mark):). Car rentals calculations and other rental planning material is the next torture...I still kinda like it, though, I'm sometimes not getting it. Since Elementary school I truly hated Math not because it's tons of thinking but because I don't have a good memory on numbers, hehe. People would diagnose me here for sure. Recently I've been having a difficulty to focus. Perhaps I'm getting overloaded again by too much thinking...that is why I write here, too, not to get nuts completely. Just bear with me,lol.

Thinking and writing have very much in common....

Therefore, I have always had this at the back of my head - the plan to write a book! Yes, I'm thinking to write in the future a book about life in Canada. This is gonna be my long term project along with the school and travels abroad. I will try to get back to my former teacher from Creative Writing to get some help with grammar a big bit....

Will cut this off here and continue tomorrow as I'm running out of juice - the sleep.

 Helloween Night

After yesterday's volunteer work at The Vancouver Fairmont Hotel, I was pretty much hammered... Came home late but had a great time! I enjoyed the opportunity to see some of the great presentations and guest speakers :). Me and Mon went hunting for food later on when we were sent to mingle with business people; quite fun for sure.(I didn't expec Moni to eat so much, haha, because she is even slimmer than me,lol). We decided to mainly focus on collecting pens and grabing some food along the move, lol. Also I got to talk to one of the event planners, Kristi, about her career .....plus we took a picture for a good time memories...and of course more stuff we got for free...

Today was a freaky Helloween!!! Gee, I couldn't decide what to wear as a mask for school sooooooo early in the morning.....so at the last minute I changed my mind not to be a flight attendant but something more edgy & fun - the Slovak Gypsy Girl!

....and guess what!? I won the 2 ticket prize of Road Racing at the River's Edge which is supposedly somewhere at Mission Raceway Park. I got soo excited but not for long....it's for the next year event so I will have to wait till then, . I hope I won't forget about it...
And what else was new today? Well, Michaela and I baked this delicious slovakian dish I haven't had for years, yummy. It'll slowly get me back to my curves, hehe.

Tomorrow is my last day of school, how nice....will have to catch up with my sleep

O.K. G.N.

Back to my life...volunteering meeting at Fairmont Hotel

Today was Sunday and I had to meet with Moni (my classmate)to participate on SOHO SME Business Conference & Expo meeting for volunteers. I just found about this event recently so I thought it would be interesting to make some contacts with people who do the event planning job or the guest speakers. I decided to research more about this field as I can see myslelf doing something like it. I'm thinking ahead of time; before I finish college I have to have some contacts at least to find a job - another challenge yet to undergo. I'll tell you, I am never gonna be bored here in Canada. Especially when you live on your own it's much more challenging fun to take all the responsibilities the life brings along your way :). I do event planning every day so it makes perfect sense to do it as a job, hehe. Never thought about it untill something lit up in my head, lol - the life pressure. Here in Vancouver it is exactly as I said.

As usually, there's is always somethig that makes my day. On the way to the hotel I had a little time to grab something to eat (note, I'm very hungry)....so I must have rushed so much that I happened to brake my heal on the boots. Imagine..on the crosswalk! I look around if someone have noticed, but don't care much cos I'm already concerned how I will make it to the meeting. The closest store was, thank God, very near by...so I had to just drag myself there and find a shoe store. The Le Chateau was the closest so I walked in....bla, bla, bla....and because I can't seem to decide very quickly, I leave the cocky sales person behind - no purchase . I swear I was like a ballerina with an injured leg limping... however, what followed in the hotel was this sightseeing tour along the whole upper floor with my broken heel! I tried to control myself smiling elegantly .....in such a pain! (I remembered that time how it was when I used to perform in heel boots...auch).
After approx. 1 hr. I finally take Moni to go with me shopping...it was shopping, indeed, and very expensive. The boots are nice but now I have to compensate the loss, s...t! Work, work, work....I'm gradually preparing to move my butt off the confort zone again. This is why I think I'm never gonna be bored, lol. The only way to vent myself is to keep smiling and never mind the bad things that have ever happened in your daily life. Otherwise I could go crazy

That's all for now...

 Travel Adventures

It's been a long time since I wrote here. Anyway, finally I start school in one week! I got a grant from the Government for Travel & Tourism Business Management Diploma Program! I've done quite a large research and eventually was approved in such a short time as 5 days, yeah....I guess, the demonstration I've done to get the founding was pursuing enough plus the good timing played part of it all. Now I have to focus on the full-time studies for over one year with only a 2-weeks break at Christmas. Hopefully, I will be able to travel back home to visit my fam during this lovely time of year :). During the trip to Slovakia I hope to meet my dearest mum in Germany where she works and from there I will take off towards Austria or Czech Republic ( will c - no precise plans done yet ).It would be nice to refresh some memories on Munich and Prague since 1989 when I went there with my dad. Hardly can wait, and for sure it's gonna be exciting trip but still it might change, hehe.

 What a "coincidance "(VIFF 2006)!

Funny thing, I was joking at my last update about volunteering "gala" party and what actually happened was that I was invited to the "real" Gala Closing Party over last Saturday!!! I was stunned as I didn't expect it . You know, volunteers usually don't get to go to such event...Upon arrival I recognized some familiar faces from hospitality department whom I worked with and the "Hells' Angels typye " old looking designer guys. The place where it was held reminded me of a car exhibition arena(can't remember the name). The sound inside the building was immensely powerful and echoed off the high celling. I had to scream a heck of a lot at my friend Erika in order to be heard, haha.Gee, my throat didn't function later on that nite....Well, since I had 2 tickets I invited Erika. The music was fantastic reminding me of the Cubean jazz - very exotic. All the food we kinda sampled off on regular basis (was abnormaly hungry at the sight of the dishes) I particularly liked Marokan chicken with cuscus sort of rice. After some wine drinking ( got drunk eventually)and all that digging in the food section we decided to leave elegantly which was hard...on the way didn't see enough young people of my age ( perhaps it was the effect of my drinking, just kidding ). Well, well, well, I think I need to reach a certain level of "maturity" to be enjoying such events!
