Life in Canada(Vancouver)

 Hospitality & Travel/Tourism

So I finally arrived to conclusions! I changed my mind after elimination of some colleges by doing more of a research...

Public sector?

Douglas College has its Hotel Management Diploma Program which I really consider as No.1 option but (there's always "butt" as I call it )... it has other side of a coin. Next semester starts only in September 2007!Can I believe it? NO!!!...well,now I do,it's hard reality to swallow, so I have to quickly figure out with one of the enrollment advisors there how on earth it'll be possible (if at all)to enter the program with the General Business Studies heading towards Hotel Management (they call it transferable studies)...Time is always money (especially in my case ). I should actually start in November this year with English Language Course that lasts 4 months prior taking G.B.S. at Douglas in January next year ( have no patience for that)...am having a headache again!

Private sector?

Canadian Tourism College is no.2 option & its Hospitality & Travel/Tourism Diploma Program is two diploma programs in one!Don't wanna know how expensive this is...but it is the longest program they offer -1 & half yrs...and without any summer breaks! All in all, "There is a crack in everything - that's how the light gets in". (Donald Cohen).

Up till now I can say it's all about how much I really want something,eh?...By all means all options require a lot of effort mainly with my first choice. However, my feeling is the public school will be harder to get into (so many requirements I can't meet in such small time range) rather than the private s. In fact, I wil also try to apply for the financial assistance through HRDC. In this case strong arguments will be handy to get the grant.

Either way, I know I will have to put on hold traveling home this summer depending where I end up studying. Oh,well. Have to make arrangements with my lovely sis, Vladi, to visit me here sometime during or after the completition of the program.

O.k. Enough of writing... I'm off to bed. Tomorrow is my last day of VIFF volunteering at Crowne Plaza Hotel and then it's Sunday volunteer "gala" party! Can't wait!

 Career research...

After I have completed Career Exploration Program at The Corner Stone Academy I am on my track to research colleges/institutes. Also doing some networking and volunteering at VIFF 2006!Hope it's gonna help me to meet some of the college's requirements. This time I am quite excited about new opportunities and meeting variety of interesting folks...That's all about me...courious as never before.

So far I'm going according to the plan I think. The hardest part on my networking, though is to filter all info from people I talked to and get only part of the description what realistically applies to me.

This and upcoming week I will visit VCC,Douglas College & Art Institute of Vancouver. BCIT was in quite turmoil when trying to contact them couple of times to make an appointment(not returning phone calls after being put on hold and disconnected plus were not sure when the next app.would be possible).Quite busy college consultants!
Well, after I find the right school and study course for me there will be a good chance to move out from Coquitlam if necessary but for sure need to find a bigger place to live in that is in close distance to school. That's the plan before January semester!Still I don't know how everything is gonna unfold...Let's leave it free style.

 Where do I go....

Well, I don't go anywhere yet or on any vacation as you would think but E.I."break" in Vancouver feels like it,except that I have to come up with some action plan of a future career in a month or two while enjoying this summer time.
What is it gonna be? I still do not know !!!

"You must know yourself and your purpose"...this got my eye instantly when I was reading a promotional article on a website of one Employment Services Agency in N.S.The Career exploration is my next 4-week session I will undergo from September. Don't worry, it's not the therapy of any health-related sort, hehe. Meanwhile, I'm taking some action to research some Dance Schools, yeah! ....already went to visit one and it looked awesome! The Scotia Bank Dance Center and Harbor D. C. were most appealing to me...

Most of these hot days I'm preoccupied with thoughts of the job I would see myself doing...truly,it's hard to imagine even closer details what else would happen next and next....and what about if there is no next? You think I'm crazy? One wonders if not seriously

. Anyway, this week I'm gone to shiatsu treatment, hurray!!! That will hopefully help me find out

Bye for now!

Everything in life has its meaning...

Strong determination and positive attitude (plus may be the 6th sense, too)that is what brings desirable results...And indeed, it did. Yes,I am talking about the hearing process that was successfully closed to my advantage.
As always in my life here, it was like the last year about 5 minutes to 12... I am usually planning ahead of time but somehow it hasn't been working lately. Life is unpredictable and therefore I have learnt never to take anything for granted and be prepared for any shocking experience. This time in a good way

These days I'm "very much" enjoying humidly hot weather and sometimes have to play hide & seek with the Sun.
My sister told me it is reaching up to 40 C in some parts in Slovakia! It's been decades since the extreme temperature jumped so rapidly high over there. The Global Warming takes up on its grades... People don't drive so crazily your cars! Please, take a bus or train like me and we can reduce impact on our planet Earth and eventually on ourselves. Have you ever heard about the Koyoto protocol about Canada? This is interesting, take a look at this link:

Toronto, Montreal tour of Lucnica - Slovak Profesional Dance Group

Just found out that there are some Slovaks coming in July to U.S.A & Canada to perform! It would be a good chance to visit Montreal & Toronto, too! I have some picks in the Gallery so check this out. Oh,I so much want to dance with them...it's been a long time since I stopped.
